FAQ

Do I need a referral to book an appointment with a Physiotherapist?

No, you are welcome to book appointments without a referral. We do also accept referrals from GP’s for patients who are eligible for treatment under EPC/CDM treatment plans, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).

How long will my appointment go for?

Initial appointments are up to 45 minutes in duration. This allows your Physiotherapist time to go through a thorough case history, including your background medical history. Following this, the remainder of the appointment may include examination of your area/s of complaint, treatment, exercise prescription and advice on how to manage your complaint.

Follow-up appointments are up to 30 minutes in duration. Your Physiotherapist will assess how your symptoms are progressing with treatment, and may perform treatment and make any necessary adjustments or progressions to previous advice given for when you return to work, sport or everyday activities.

Are consultations covered under my Private Health insurance?

Yes, if you have the appropriate extras cover for Physiotherapy. The amount of your consultation fee which is covered by your private health insurance depends on your policy, and it is best that you check with your insurer. We offer on-the-spot claims with our HICAPS terminal, where you can swipe your private health card for a rebate on the day of your appointment.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

Any relevant scans (xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc) and reports that might help your Physiotherapist gain a better understanding of what is causing your symptoms.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best recommended to allow your practitioner to apply stretches and other treatment techniques to areas that relate to your complaint, without your clothing restricting you. Your Physiotherapist may ask your permission to remove a shirt or pants, depending on the area of complaint, to be able to more accurately assess movement of joints and areas of dysfunction or restriction, and to apply treatment. We use towels to cover sensitive areas. Your comfort is of the utmost importance, and any questions or concerns you have are encouraged to be openly discussed with your practitioner so they can accommodate you.

Cancellation policy.

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required if you are unable to attend your appointment, or need to reschedule. If you have given us your mobile number, we will send you an SMS reminder the day before your appointment. Failure to give adequate notice will incur a 50% fee from your total consultation fee. This policy applies to all services offered at ReForm Health.
