Laser Therapy
Laser Therapy
Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or cold laser therapy, is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-power lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to promote healing and reduce pain and inflammation.
During PBMT, specific wavelengths of light are shone onto your skin and go through to the cells and tissues underneath. This light helps your cells produce more energy (ATP), which can help your body heal faster and reduce pain and swelling.
Photobiomodulation therapy can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal pain conditions, including:
- Arthritis
- Tendinitis (e.g. tennis elbow and Achilles tendinitis)
- Bursitis (inflammation of small fluid-filled sacs in joints)
- Muscle strains
- Ligament injuries (e.g. ankle sprains)
- Back and neck pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
- Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (jaw pain)
Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is generally considered safe, and most people experience few or no side effects. If any side effects occur, they are typically mild and temporary, and they usually go away on their own within a few hours after treatment.
It is important to note that while PBMT can be effective for these conditions, it may not be suitable for everyone. It is always best to consult with one of our practitioners to determine if PBMT is a good treatment option for your specific condition.
Our practitioners use a THOR Laser device. To find out more about how this treatment may help you, watch the video below:
