Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates can be used for injury rehabilitation and in conjunction with existing gym or exercise programs to help further improve posture, flexibility, core strength and quality of movement.
Clinical Pilates classes at ReForm Health are run in a modern Pilates Studio, fitted with high quality Pilates equipment.
To begin our Pilates program, you can book a 1-on-1 Introductory session with your Pilates instructor, where a thorough history will be taken with discussion of your injury and/or goals for the program, along with an introduction to the Pilates equipment and exercises within your program. Programs are tailored for the individual’s needs, and once you have completely your introductory session you can join a Pilates class (maximum of 4 participants) to start progressing through your program.
We keep our classes small to maximise instructor guidance and minimise risk of injury due to bad technique while performing exercises.
Clinical Pilates suits people of all ages and fitness levels, ranging from people who:
- Are recovering from injury
- Haven’t exercised in a while, and are looking to start with something easy and low impact
- Uncomfortable in traditional gym environments
- Amateur and elite athletes looking to improve their flexibility and quality of movement and reduce risk of injury
As our clinical Pilates sessions are run by highly qualified Physiotherapists, participants may qualify for private health rebates for individual sessions or Pilates classes.

FAQ
How long are Clinical Pilates Introductions and classes?
Our Clinical Pilates Introduction sessions run for 45 minutes. This gives time for your pilates instructor to go through your medical and injury history, your goals and an introduction to your individual pilates program on our variety of different pilates equipment. You are required to attend an Introduction session prior to joining a class.
Clinical Pilates classes run for 1 hour. We recommend you arrive 5-10 minutes early to stretch and warm up before your class starts.
Can I use my private health for Clinical Pilates classes?
Yes, with our classes that are run by Physiotherapists you can claim (typically a partial amount) if you have the appropriate extras cover. To know if you’re covered, please check with your private health fund.
What do I wear to a Clinical Pilates class?
Anything that you’d wear when doing other forms of exercise would be appropriate for pilates. Participants typically wear shorts, tracksuit pants or leggings, t-shirts or singlets.
Shoes are not to be worn during classes, and for hygiene purposes bare feet are also not allowed. We have an allocated storage area for shoes, bags and other items. Participants typically wear socks during classes. For safety purposes, we recommend pilates socks specifically designed with extra grip underneath. These are available for purchase at the clinic.
How often should I attend classes?
Most participants attend once a week, which is the recommended minimum to achieve consistent results. Some participants who really notice and enjoy the benefits of the classes will attend multiple times per week.
How long should I expect to see results from my Clinical Pilates classes?
Pilates, like most forms of exercise, takes time and consistent effort to gain results. Some participants report a reduction in pain and improved movement after the first class. For others it can can several classes. We recommend participants attend classes for at least 8 weeks to gain the best indication of how pilates is benefiting them.
